My Students

My students come in all sorts and sizes. Each has their own learning challenges and thrives to become independent learners. Our classroom works extremely hard on having our students mainstreamed into regular education classrooms as much as possible.

Closure of school due to the pandemic COVID-19 has had a huge impact on the socialization and emotional status of students in our community.

Students have not been together and have forgotten how to treat each other with respect and kindness.

My special education students have learning challenges - such as Autism, Emotionally Disturbed, ADHD, Specific Learning Disability, Fragile X, etc. Each student wants to be successful in school and "fit" into the mainstream.

My Project

The leveled readers and books in this project will help teach the students how to be kind and reflect on what they are saying. Words do hurt. I want to teach them to use kind and positive words.

I believe in having books available that focus on expanding emotional resilience and positivity while promoting kindness and respect through reading and writing.

The writing will help them gather their thoughts of respect and positivity to others. Kindness goes a long way in this COVID world we have been living in.

The money game will be a fun way to learn about money and finances. They will also learn to take turns while learning about finances.
