Expanding Cooking Club to Serve More Students

Help me give my students a more immersive cooking class. We have begun our journey but the club is so popular we need to expand already!

My Students

Our school is a Title I school in Philadelphia. We are a 9-12 public school. My students come from all neighborhoods of Philadelphia and come from various economic backgrounds. I believe that multi-modal education is the best way to meet the needs of ​most students. By encouraging learning through multiple means I hope to enhance student health both mentally and physically.

My Project

These materials will be used to expand on my already growing cooking club. The club is already at close to 40 kids and expanding each week. These supplies will help allow more stations of concurrent cooking. The goal of this club is to expand student's knowledge about being self-reliant and eating healthier. An eventual goal is to also combine with a gardening club to send students home with vegetables to continue practicing their cooking skills throughout the summer and on days when we do not meet as a club. Philadelphia has many neighborhoods that are considered food deserts so any access to food education is a necessity.
