My Project
I am the current art teacher at Masterman, teaching grades 5th-12th Visual Arts. I am looking to expand the art opportunities for our students at Masterman, with supplies that are typically very expensive that may cause me to not order to ensure I use my budget wisely. As the newest art teacher at Masterman, I am looking to offer the kids projects and after school activities that have not been presented before.
I am now looking to show kids how to make polymer clay jewelry, Polymer Modeling Compound Clay will help us make keychains, homemade jibbitz, miniatures, and magnets.
This type of art activity shows kids of all abilities that art can be more than a sketch on a piece of paper, and they can watch their ideas come to life in a 3D form. When I announced to all my classes that we would be doing polymer clay, they literally cheered in excitement. Many art teachers avoid this project strictly because of the cost.
Every year, I post a classroom Wishlist and write grants in order to get these supplies. The students can use the posca and Prisma color markers to color in their clay work and do not even have to use paint if they do not want to.
