Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In my classroom, making learning fun and engaging is a top priority. Many of my students have never been in an academic environment before, so I hope to make their first year in school as memorable as possible. A majority of my students are learning English as a second language, so it is important to me to provide ways for them to share their culture with the rest of the class.
My students gain a love of learning, and many excellent life experiences in our classroom.
Besides focusing on the essential academic goals I also strive to help every child learn about the world around them, and how to problem solve. My students and I become a family in room E-24.
My Project
The "My Big World" magazine by Scholastic would be an amazing supplemental source of literacy for my students. In our school, we use the Big Day in Pre-K curriculum (also published by Scholastic), and this would help to make even more connections between what we are learning in the classroom and real-world experiences through the excellent articles, and photographs.
This will be an excellent way for families to further discuss what their child is learning about in class.
My students will be so excited to have their very own copy to read during our small-groups, and then take home to share with their families!
