My Students

I am a teacher in a high poverty school district where about half of my students receive free or reduced price lunch. Despite the challenges faced by my students, we have a vibrant, creative classroom. I believe that each of my students can succeed with enough assistance.

My students are creative, clever, and try their very best.

They like to move, they love to read (especially with their reading buddies). I focus on growing each student as much as possible each and every day. They are happy and work hard every day.

My Project

Our class needs more non-fiction books for writing. We need rich, accessible texts that inspire us to be better readers and writers. These texts on animals will allow us to independently research and write about animals that interest us.

We need more diverse books to expand our minds to all of the vast opportunities the world has to offer.

Whether we are traveling to the ocean or to outer space, we need access to texts that allow us to see the world. Our world I see also full of diverse, strong men and women. These books will expose us to places, careers, and people we would otherwise not see.
