Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students in grades are engaged in physical activity twice a week for 45 minutes. I want my students to acquire the basic skills and fitness necessary to lead a healthy and active lifestyle. Many students rather watch TV or play video games. Our motto is, " Stay Fit Don't Quit"
My students all come from a poverty ridden part of Homestead.
They all receive free lunch and many people just seem to give up on them. I will do no such thing. I want them to have the same experiences, the same education, and the same resources as the best schools in the city. No child should have to suffer in the classroom because they do not have what others do. Aside from teaching, I believe that it is my role to provide for my students in any way that I possibly can.
My Project
To receive an all in one computer and printer would allow my students to participate in the latest exercise programs available online as well as print out workout regimen, most of my students do not have access to a computer, we would be using this computer to learn about exercise, target heart rate range, and healthy body composition. Middle school girls in particular are at risk of eating disorders and poor body image. I would like to combat this with technology to create a wellness program so they can learn how to be fit and healthy with positive self esteem.
Additionally, we will be able to use this computer and printer when enjoying classes and extracurricular activities outside to track progress and participation..
