My Students

I work with some amazing high school students who are in special education classes. My students are so excited about learning and being involved in high school activities. They love working with their “buddies” and “unified partners”. Academics and basic life skills are difficult for them but their outlook is almost always positive. They love learning and exploring the world around them. To provide them with their best experiences I need to make sure their sensory needs are met so they can focus on the activities in front of them. They appreciate everything that is donated to our classroom and would be so excited to have the opportunity to use these exercise bikes.

My Project

These under desk exercise bikes will help my students calm their bodies so their minds can stay focused on our lessons. Most of my students have trouble sitting still and are always in motion. By providing them with the ability to keep their legs moving on these bikes they will be able to interact in class discussions, collaborate during group activities, and complete independent assignments while meeting their sensory needs. My students are 9th-12th graders who are in math, science, job skills, and life skills classes. My goal is to provide them with the resources they need to graduate high school and to find their path after they graduate.
