This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our second grade girls and boys attend a public school in a large urban city. It is a Title I school with more than 60% of students receiving reduced rate or free lunch. The students come from a number of multicultural backgrounds. The children come to school each day enthusiastically ready to learn and thrive. Friendship and kindness is valued in our classroom. Respect and responsibility are valued in our school. Our school believes every child can learn to their full potential and our teachers and staff support their journey through a strong education.
My Project
A wireless speaker will allow music to be played often for singing, dancing and exercising in the classroom. Girls and boys naturally respond to music. Quiet soft music can accompany independent writing and louder pop music can promote movement and exercising for brain breaks or physical education on a rainy day.
Music throughout the day will bring a joyful note to the children as they take on the challenges of an academic morning and afternoon.
Students will thrive with music being an ongoing part of their day at school. The wireless speaker will allow the teacher to play music at her fingertips through applications designed specifically for children.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
