I teach at an inner-city school in Akron, Ohio. All of my students receive a free breakfast and lunch. They live in a neighborhood where crime is infiltrated in their backyards.
It's inspiring to have students who are willing to work hard despite their circumstance.
There are many things that happen in their life that does not support success. However, I work with amazing teachers that give 110% to make these inner-city students super stars.
My students deserve the best opportunity to be successful.
My Project
The basketballs, footballs,play ground balls and jump ropes will be used to encourage my students to exercise at home. Many of my students love to play team sports. However, they do not have access to the equipment throughout their summer break. Rewarding them with new balls will allow them the opportunity to share with other friends in the neighborhood. As a result, games are being played in the neighborhood and kids are exercising.
Exercise and physical activity is essential and needs to be fun and energetic for my students.
The throwing target games will allow my students the chance to learn to throw in a fun and creative format. They will learn the proper way to throw while focusing the skills.
