My Project
"When we grew up and went to school, there were certain teacher who would hurt the children any way they could by pouring their derision upon anything we did and exposing every weakness, however, carefully hidden by the kids..." (Pink Floyd)Children start believing, "We don't need no education..no thought control, no dark sarcasm in the classroom," and they hope, "Teachers would leave them kids alone...all in all it's just another brick in the wall." (Pink Floyd) Children aren't just misbehaving for the teacher. "All behavior is some form of communication." It is not disrespect, but rather a call for help.
Nine times out of ten, the story behind the misbehavior won't make you angry; it will break your heart.
(A. Breaux) By helping me supply my students with tools such as pencils, erasers, glue sticks, folders and other classroom supplies, you are helping them to improve their executive functioning ability. You are helping them to stay organized, focus on a task and use their time wisely. You are helping a struggling child who is aware that they are not meeting expectations by giving them the awareness and equipping them with the tools necessary to meet them. When children are provided with opportunities to use strategies that address core executive functioning processes, they can become independent learners and flexible thinkers. They can more easily bypass their weaknesses while using their strengths to learn efficiently. It is never too late to improve your executive functioning. When you learn about your brain and time, you have the key to your future. You can set your own trajectory, your own course for a purposeful life. "When the brain is silent, the executive function, which is this part of the brain that makes decisions, can work much better." (Goldie Hawn)
