Exciting Spanish Books for Native Speakers

Help me give my students high interest books in Spanish to increase their reading level and literacy skills and materials (book tape and poster holders) to promote and preserve them.

My Project

The students in my school come from a variety of backgrounds and have a wide range of literacy abilities. These books will reach a variety of students, from advanced Spanish readers to emerging Spanish readers. These books are all high-interest. Most are fiction, and the rest are intended to target reluctant readers with interests in soccer. We currently have one book about soccer in Spanish and over 100 native speakers in our school.

Our library needs exciting books in Spanish to entice our growing ELL population.

These students are at varying levels of English proficiency so most of our library collection is inaccessible to them. The books I have requested cover a variety of reading levels and subject interest areas. Our students are excited to read what their English-speaking peers are reading and deserve to have access to those titles in their native language.

All books will be added to our circulating library collection and will be accessible to all students. Native English speakers who read and speak Spanish will also be able to benefit from these books as well. The tape and poster holders requested will help to promote these books to students as well as protect them in circulation.

Mrs. Briano will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by August 3.
