Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students in my third-grade class begin school with varied abilities. Math and reading can be challenging to an average student and may seem impossible to a student functioning below grade level. Good attendance and positive attitudes are rewarded and students strive to be AVID leaders of our school. Our school community is supportive and fosters a loving environment. My students are hard workers and strive for excellence!
The more that you read, the more things you will know, the more you learn, the more places you'll go.
-Dr. Seuss
My students are hard working third graders, with a powerful drive to succeed. They have varied abilities and need different levels of support to achieve their goals. My school has an enrollment of 671 students from K through sixth grade. We have a diverse population with a large percentage of English language learners and special education students. The majority of our students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds.
My Project
A majority of my students may begin third grade without the necessary supplies. School shopping can be a financial burden to struggling parents. Pencils, erasers, and dry erase markers are essential to a successful school year. These items are sought after throughout the year.
Organizational materials are important for third graders!
Third graders need to be more organized in preparation for fourth grade. They need to become more independent and learn how to care for their materials. Book bins are an important asset to keeping a library organized by genre, which in turn, teaches students where to store texts. The labeled bins also aide in the learning of genres of different texts they seek to find.
