My Students
I teach Spanish in a small rural school district in Wisconsin. My students are very hard working and are dedicated to increasing their level of language proficiency on a daily basis. My students are always asking if there is more that we can include in order to fine tune their Spanish skills and that is where this project comes in.
Our school is continually looking at ways to increase the overall literacy of our students and I am trying to do my part although it be in another language.
I have taught in other school districts where students choose to use their cell phones in class which cause distractions to their learning. However in this school district I see more students who want to continue reading as much as possible. I want to be able to take the love of reading that my students have for reading and apply that to their love of learning languages.
My Project
After having one successful project, I was anxious to tell my students and they were very excited. However when they asked how many books we would be receiving they were wondering if we would be able to order more books so there would be multiple options and one for each student during each class. I decided that I would try again to continue building our in class library, so that my students have a good variety of Spanish books at a variety of different reading levels. I am so thankful for my first funded project that my students said to go for one more round.
