Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are lower income students who are active mix of students who are not interested in learning what is being presented unless it is hands-on interesting or digitally or electronically engaging. For some of them it is because they need the visual and audio stimulation in order to understand, while others need to be able to move while processing information. I try to visit the computer lab as often as possible but they need to have more engaging, hands one activities than I have the time, creativity, or money to create. From the simple to the more complex. I want them to learn and to retain what they have learned.
Getting them up and out of their desks engaged in reading and actively participating in their learning is what I desire my classroom to look like.
My Project
These materials have the possibility of making an enormous difference in transforming the students classroom environment into one that is exciting and accessible to the extremely diverse types of learners.
The experiments and hands on activities will enrich the class culture by having them talking about, interested and successful in learning about biology and science.
Having these materials available and in the hands of all of the students in the classroom will allow them to explore and create memories while learning. They will become an active part of the their own hands on learning experience. For many these students this will be their only chance for the opportunity to learn and explore using the scientific method and equipment.
