My Project
Reading is a central part of every English classroom and there are a number of canonical texts that we read as a class. However, a student's ability to read and engage with a text independently is as important as their ability to analyze a text with support. That's why I want to offer students engaging and accessible independent reading options.
Even the most reluctant readers are drawn to graphic novels.
These graphic novel options in particular are thoughtful, educational, and culturally-relevant. Students select at least two books a year to read with their literature circle group and I know these options would be a top choice for many students.
