My Project

My students love to read, and one of my favorite things as a teacher is to watch excitement build as we discover the magic of an incredible story! I love watching them develop the reading bug when they find a book that they just can't put down.

These new book sets will allow my students choice, which is so important when it comes to developing a love of reading.

Literature is always evolving and changing, and since it is impossible for me to personally be able to afford to constantly purchase new and exciting book sets for 200 students, it is my hope to use this gift of funds to provide current and relevant book choices that not only represent the diversity of my students, but that also cover a variety of genres to peak their interest.

These materials will be used in small book clubs, where groups of up to five students will study the novel together, delve deep into theme, characters, vocabulary and love of the book.

Mrs. Jenkins will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by July 28.
