My classroom is full of bright and amazing students. The majority of them come from low income areas. My students are eager to learn and enjoy reading, math, and hands on projects. Due to the low income in this area, some are often left without. Our children not only like to learn in school, but off campus as well. We hope that, with your assistance, we will be able to make learning, through hands on, more accessible for our students to ensure the success of our future leaders.
My Project
I believe that technology can be used to improve learning and teaching. With the help of 2 Chromebooks, students are able to take control of their learning. We plan to use multiple educational websites, digital simulations, and E-Books such as Starfall, ABCYA, pbskids, YouTube simulations on how to do simple math, and much more! With more equipment in our classroom, we will be able to cater to more students during instructional time. Technology is also a way to preserve paper, and we plan to use it to encourage students during reading and mathematics. We currently use a program called Waterford that allows the students to go over their alphabets, sounding out letters and words, and keeps the students engaged. We only have one computer with this on it, and it runs about 15 minutes, depending on the child's pace. The more we can use them, the more familiar and comfortable our students will be with the technology equipment. It is a very popular center in our classroom.
