This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Art Club students are incredibly talented and creative young adults. They are energetic, enthusiastic, motivated, and fiercely dedicated to exploring and expanding their artistic abilities. I have never worked with such a large group of students who desire to learn and grow as much as they do. I would love to be able to provide my students with the opportunity to tour the California Institute of the Arts in Santa Clarita and to visit and sketch at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles. I am positive that this particular donation would make a life lasting impact on my students.

We are in dire need of transportation to Cal Arts and to the Getty Museum.

Most of my students have never been given the opportunity to visit an actual college campus, let alone for certain, not a campus focused entirely on art! In addition, many have never had the opportunity to visit an art museum either. As their teacher and club advisor I would love to be there to be a part of this magical day for them. This field trip is a one day event, scheduled from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM.

My Project

My goal is to take my students to the California Institute of the Arts in Santa Clarita so that they can tour the campus. I would love for them to have the opportunity to be immersed in what college life is like. In addition, I want them to see first hand that college is attainable for each and every one of them! It is also my intention to widen their view of what college can offer them. So many of my students are incredibly talented artists and Cal Arts has many unique art programs for all varieties of artistic expression.

After enjoying our tour at the California Institute of the Arts and a bite of lunch, I would then like to proceed onwards towards the Getty Museum in Los Angeles.

Here at this incredible art museum they will have the opportunity to explore work from other artists, gather inspiration, and finish the day out by sketching in nature in their personalized journals (we are making them) in the observatory. I think it will be a full day centered around encouraging their creativity and natural talents.

Lastly, it's my desire to allow them to ride home in comfort, allowing them a quiet atmosphere with their peers to reflect on their thoughts and feelings from our inspirational day. All it takes is one person to care and change someone's direction in life. I choose to do my best, every day, at all times, to be that one person for these students.
