I am a special education teacher at a Title I school that teaches the most amazing group of students with varying special needs. My students love to learn and have the biggest of hearts. My students never give up and have made great strides in their academic career. My students come from low-income families where lack of resources is often an issue that they face when completing assignments. I feel eternally grateful to have a group of students that has a zeal for learning and reading.
My Project
Flexible seating puts my exceptional students in control of their exceptionalities by giving them an outlet for their energy and helps their focus. Wobble stools' rounded bottoms keep my students' cores tightened and leg muscles active which increases blood flow and strength. Many of my students have decreased muscle tone or a constant need to move due to hyperactivity. These wobble stools will solve both of these issues. Wobble stools will help with sensory input and burning of energy. The movements the students make are minimal and do not impede others' learning. My students crave movement. These stools will allow for that movement while burning excess energy and getting more oxygen to the brain which causes improved focus and more retention of academics. These stools will be used at my small group table which is where the richest individualized instruction is given. These stools will be an integral part in the academic success of my students.
