Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This class is a kindergarten inclusion class. My students consist of both students with special needs (IEP Students) as well as general education students. Many students need assistance in reading, writing, and math. Some students need speech therapy, AIS services, behavioral services or physical therapy. I will not know all the specifics until the start of the school year, as it is their first time in school. Our students come from low-income households but that should not stop them from receiving material that will support their curiosity and learning.
My Project
Our students and future citizens will learn math and manner. They will use the cash registers to learn about numbers. The students will learn how to add to find total, how to subtract to make change, values of coins, value of bills, how to shop within a set budget, how to follow direction an get item on a list, role play different part from clerk to cashier to customer, the differences between wants and needs, Display appropriate manners when shopping, and how to solve conflict resolution. The younger we can teach them the better citizen we can raise. Children need to play real life roles.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
