This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 24 energetic, amazing and fabulous firsties in an urban Pre K-8th grade school. One hundred percent of my students receive free lunch and many of them come from families that are living well below the poverty line.
They are all so special because they always come to school with smiles on their faces, eager and ready to learn no matter what the circumstances may be at home.
That type of enthusiasm and willingness to learn inspires me to do and want more for them.
My Project
My students need a classroom easel for interactive reading and writing lessons. Our classroom easel is broken and finally had to be laid to rest for fear of it falling over and hurting one of my students.
Having a new easeI would make it easier for my kiddos to see, contribute and interact with texts during whole group reading, writing, math and circle time in my classroom.
I would be able to read big books and create anchor charts with my students and make them more interactive. My students would be able to write on and use other materials that can be neatly stored in the easel bins.
Having a place in the classroom for my students to do their word work and other learning would be such a joy. I know this tool would help keep my students engaged in reading and writing lessons.
