This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a teacher of English 11, I often expose my students to texts that they do not find interesting or relatable. Sometimes, all it takes is a good ice-breaker to pique their interest and "hook" them. Not only will these games help students connect to the text, they will activate critical thinking and help them "see" themselves and others with grace, compassion, and humor. Herd Mentality, Salem, Sounds Fishy, and Chameleon all relate to our quarter four text: The Crucible by Arthur Miller. Most students see the costumes and hear the speech patterns and think nothing in this play will relate to them. Let's "hook" them and show them the truth!
