My Project
Have you ever read a book that sticks with you? I had the opportunity to read this book last year with my junior classes as a book club book, and we all loved it. This story was something many of my students connected with, as they have had many shared experiences with the main character. This book was something my classes had the most fun with.
I plan to use this book for the novel unit of our curriculum.
Not only is it refreshing, but it lends itself to assignments that hold meaning and that students actually enjoy. Moreover, we have finally moved out of Covid and the isolation students were used to, and are once again at a point where students are actively engaged in class and with each other. When we have literature that interests them, we can compound the learning and engagement tenfold.
My students are rarely introduced to literature they actually love. With this book, I can help foster their love of reading. Furthermore, some of my students come from underprivileged households. Many cannot afford books on their own and do not have transportation to the library, thusly the books they do get to read are the ones we give them in class. With your help, I will be able to give them something I think they will fully enjoy.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
