This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Organization is so important in a classroom. This is something I like to instill in all of my students.
I teach 24 enthusiastic and high achieving first graders.
My students attend a gifted magnet that allows them to explore various talents and strengths. They love learning but sometimes lack the organization skills necessary to stay focused. Being their first teacher at this school, I like to help them learn these organization skills.
My Project
One of the ways I teach organization is by assigning each student a mailbox. They use this to organize what is going home each day. This assures that homework, notices, and classwork are sent home. I also teach students that everything has a place. The mailboxes I currently have are cardboard boxes that are currently falling apart and constantly get stuck so I'm requesting new mailboxes for them. I'm also requesting a drying rack with clips to make sure to have a special place for them to put their art up to dry.
These resources will help my students have a special place for everything.
I believe this an important step to learning to be responsible and organized. Thank you for your consideration.
