Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a Title I campus located in Pasadena, which is an overall Title I district. Many of my students do not have the opportunity to go to Pre-K. As our campus does not have a program and they would have to attend another school. These programs at other campuses fill up very quickly.
Last year our learners were impacted by Hurricane Harvey, and our resilient students overcame those challenges.
We are hopeful that our kiddos will not have to have the same kindergarten experience that our students last year did. However, if we do, we know they are capable of, and will, bounce back and will still have a safe place to come to at school.
Overall, we are an amazing classroom family, and use our growth mindset to strive to be the best we can be.
My Project
Formally testing Kindergartners means putting a halt to many activities, and pulling students one by one to record data on paper. This data you obtain is then recorded in to a variety of different formats, taking hours among hours to complete in total. To fully analyze the growth of my students, I have created charts in the past - which is beneficial but also time consuming. From letter identification, to solving math problems - any test can be created to collect the data I need from my students quickly with ESGI, with all the data collection and analyzing being done in one step instead of many. Individualized and class reports give me a clear picture of what needs to be targeted for students and as a class. Having ESGI in my classroom this past year has been absolutely amazing!

If 400 hours is saved for an average teacher, imagine how many hours a teacher truly spends on these tasks. Not only will this benefit the teacher, it will benefit students, parents, and specialists. Students have more time for enriching activities. Parents receive student summary handouts that are automatically populated by the site to show student areas of growth and refinement. Specialists have specific and dated data to help figure out what’s going on with specific students and how we can better aid them. I have been able to create an online assessment for EVERYTHING I need my students to know.
