My Project

I work as a librarian at a high school in central Massachusetts. It is a very culturally diverse but economically challenged neighborhood. Many of my students cannot access public libraries; their school library is their connection to resources outside of their street and their neighborhood.

These kids are athletes; they are invested in their sports programs and are inspired by the professional athletes they see.

It is so important to have books that reflect their interests and showcase their heroes. I have a book by basketball star Chris Paul. A student was walking by the library and saw it advertised on a poster. He stopped, came right into the library, and asked to check it out. The kids will read what they can relate to and these books are a strong foundation that I can build upon, with the help of DonorsChoose supporters like you!
