Everyone Needs A Pencil!

My Students

My students may come from meager means, humble homes, and fractured families, but they come eager and excited to learn. My Title I school houses students K-8 and provides each and everyone with not only breakfast and lunch but a classroom that serves as a home.

They are not just my students but my family, and each year I am lucky enough to begin a school year with new members.

While my family continues to grow, their needs continue to be met with proper support and dedication.

My Project

Having only completed about a week of virtual instruction, this teacher has experienced some highs and some lows. I recognize the challenges faced when dealing with technology but also smile and the patience and perseverance of my students. I was fortunate enough to have a project funded that included an iPad which has expanded my ability to instruct in ways that I couldn't imagine. However, I made a mistake. I realized (after the fact) that to use my iPad to its fullest ability in this online world, I would need a pencil.

With an iPad pencil, I would be able to convert my iPad into a whiteboard, allowing students to receive live instruction as if I was creating content in the classroom.

With this device I would be able to write with ease, creating anchor charts, story webs, even illustrations that could be viewed by my students in real-time.

It has been through research, discussions, and general teacher collaboration that I have been fortunate enough to discover engaging techniques to better instruct my large class of 36-second grade students. It would be amazing if this Pencil was received to make discussions and lessons that much more authentic.
