Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I school, and despite the high poverty, over 95% free and reduced lunch, and language barriers, our students come to school with smiles on their faces and are eager to learn and take advantage of new learning opportunities and experiences.

They love lessons that are hands-on and give them the opportunity to be creative.

This includes our middle school students. Hands-on lessons engage our students, and they learn better because of this. This is especially the case with our ESL students.

My Project

Our school has a high ESL population, and our students often come to us able to speak little or no English. Legos are universal and don't require English language skills to use them, just an imagination.

Legos are versatile tools and can be used to build projects that tie directly to state standards, and they can also be used for free play and creative expression.

Legos have universal appeal from preschool to adults which makes them perfect for our PreK-8 school.

Our Legos will be used across the curriculum from literacy projects to reinforce skills to geography, math and science.
