How many of you enjoy reading on the beach? Or on a park bench? How about on the train? Well my students absolutely enjoy reading in our classroom. They cherish their quiet reading time while classical music plays. It would be even more rewarding if they had a nice spot to sit and focus!
I have never seen students so immersed into a book in my life.
My students absolutely love to read in our class. And I want to do nothing more than to encourage this passion.
My students are 3rd graders at a school located in a major metropolitan area. They spend their days in school, sharing ideas and using their burning brains. Their nights are spent riding their bikes, playing sports on the street, going to a soccer game at the local rec. center, participating in after-school clubs, or eating pizza at one of their favorite pizza shops.
The school they attend provides them with a rich education. The teachers are here at the crack of dawn and stay until the moon shines. We do these kinds of things because our hearts are 100% in it. We are passionate about our students and want to provide them with the best education we possibly can. In turn, our students grow into ambitious, caring individuals. They are prepared for the next step in their little lives once they leave our classroom.
My Project
This year is the birth year of my classroom library. I have searched high and low for book my students will enjoy. To the point where my own mother is keeping her eyes peeled for chapter books. With this project I will be able to provide my students with a comfortable spot to sit and read. Right now they cram on the tiny rug I bought at second-hand shop. They love it so much they do not even realize there is not enough space.
The new rug shows the students different genres. We work with genres on a daily basis. It will also be the home of many students during reading time. The bean bags will be a great place to read. The pillows will come in handy while laying on the floor. They will be thrilled and more excited to read than ever!
My students will learn the importance of reading a good book. They will learn how to appreciate time to just sit and dive nose-first into a juicy novel. With our new furniture and library bins, our classroom library will be complete!
This project will truly benefit my students.
They will be able to not only read a book, but to have a place to allow them to escape into a faraway world. With our new furniture, students can become more immersed into their book. Our classroom library will serve as a great resource with the help of new bins and comfortable seats!
