My Project
After ten years of teaching in the classroom, I have decided to take my love of reading to the next level and move to the library. As the Media Coordinator, I am responsible for reading initiatives for the whole school, not just one classroom. Students from Kindergarten to 5th grade will enter the Media Center and I want to make it as inviting as I can for students of all ages.
One of my main goals for this school year is to create a space that is comfortable and safe for any student that enters the Media Center.
The materials in this project will provide unique touches to the Media Center that will help students feel that they are all capable of being readers and leaders. Students at my school have a love for technology and innovation, as well as reading. I want the space to be equitable for students and learning of all kinds.
One of the most important ways, I feel,to make sure my space is comfortable for students is to keep materials organized so they can access materials efficiently. I would like to use the rolling cart and pencil dispenser for this. I would like to use the weather station and bird feeder to integrate ideas from the science lab at our school. The other materials are for decor and making the Media Center inviting.
