My Students

Our wall to wall classroom carpet is old and wearing thin. Because we are a kindergarten classroom we spend a lot of time on the floor, listening to stories, playing math games and having fun. With a new classroom carpet we will have a soft, comfortable, colorful and clean place to learn and play!

I have 18 five and six year-old students in my kindergarten classroom.

They are an energetic bunch that love coming to school each day. They are engaged in their learning and soak it all up like little sponges! Our school is a small lab school on the campus of our local state university. We are a school of diversity, serving students from many different cultural and economic backgrounds. Many are from low income homes. Our district, like most these days struggles with funding. Our school building is located on a college campus and not owned by the district we serve. Our school is the only one in our district that has not undergone renovations that would keep us equitable with the remainder of the district. Many of our classroom furnishings are outdated and in need of replacement. This is not possible during financial difficulties.

My Project

With a new carpet, the students in my classroom will have a cleaner, healthier place to play and learn. We spend a lot of our day on the carpet exploring different materials and learning to play and grow together. A new carpet will allow each child to have their own personal space on the carpet while having a soft place to sit and listen.

By making a donation to this project you will provide a healthy place for learning, and help to brighten a creative and busy classroom.

The carpet will provide a community of learners and at the same time provide each child with their own personal space for learning.
