Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a barrier-free Title 1 school that is home to over 1500 students with over 70 languages spoken. It is a very warm school with an active and supportive parent body. It is a wonderful place to learn - for both students and staff! My students are loving, compassionate, and always ready and willing to learn. They put a smile on my face each and every day and I cannot imagine having any other career. This is what I was meant to do! My class is very culturally diverse and many of my children struggle with our math curriculum It is very difficult for me, as their mentor to see my children struggle. However, they have a positive attitude and a fierce determination to overcome any challenges that they might face whether it be in school or at home. They amaze me with their resilience and I am in awe of their determination.
I am in awe of their perseverance and I would do anything to ensure that they achieve academic success.
My Project
VersaTiles can help to insure that students retain content in an engaging way with effective hands-on skills practice. Small group instruction that enables students to practice what they learned is essential to ensuring academic success for all children. VersaTiles will enable students to become actively engaged while practicing and enhancing the skills that they need to be successful in life. It will enable my "stars" to find joy in academic discovery and self-assessment. VersaTiles will help my students build their math proficiency in a challenging and rewarding way. Lastly, the self checking answer system will help to create a safe learning environment which will ultimately impact their confidence level.
