Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are special because they are able to take their sometimes difficult circumstances as a way to grow and learn. They are diverse and our school celebrates these diversities by allowing the students to showcase and celebrate what makes them different and special.
Students deserve to be able to learn with high quality materials, no matter what their circumstances are!
Every day they come into the classroom and try and put their troubles behind them so that they can learn and grow. Coming to school every day is not always easy but our classroom is a family and we strive to make everyone feel welcome so that they want to come and learn!
My Project
I have a few flexible seating options in the classroom and the students just gravitate to them to do their best work. They do better when they feel comfortable. With the seats that have the desks attached students will be able to move to a comfortable spot in the room and still have a space to use their chromebook or do written work.
Students need basic materials to be successful in the classroom and public education doesn't always have the ability to supply students with everything they need.
Students are constantly using whiteboards in my classroom for math problems, games, classroom quick checks and many other things. With everyday use of the white boards the markers are constantly running out and are expensive to keep up with purchasing more. Students need these markers to save on paper and also any frustration of constantly writing and erasing.
Students use group tables in the classroom and they need a space to keep their supplies. They currently use book bins but from putting them back and forth daily, many of them have started to crack and break. Students do their best to be careful with them but daily use wears on them. Having some extra book bins to replace broken ones would be great for the classroom.
All of these things may not seem like major for some people but having these basics would mean a world of difference for my classroom.
