I teach fourth grade at a wonderful DC public school in the southeast section of DC. My 20 students are a fabulous group of students. Within my classroom I teach a wide spectrum of skill levels. I have students who were assessed at a first grade math level all the way up to those students who score on a high elementary level. DCPS has chosen Everyday Math as our system-wide math curriculum. I think it is a wonderful chance for all my students to learn math as an exploration of how math affects us in our every day life, not just memorizing facts. Part of the Everyday Math curriculum is the playing of games. Games reinforce key facts and operational skills. The games allow students to practice the skills being taught without pencil and paper worksheets. These games teach Numeration, Operations and Computations, Patterns, Functions, Algebra and Geometry, while allowing the students to have fun. Most importantly, while playing these games, my students can't notice the difference in their varying math skill levels. The games kits I am asking for include all the materials needed for easy setup and play, including game boards, game places and a teachers guide for each game.
