My Students
I teach technology grades Kindergarten thru 3rd grade in a Title I school in East Flatbush Brooklyn, New York. Many of my students are from families that fall below the poverty line. I have students of varying levels, special needs and languages all in the technology lab at the same time. They are bright, cheerful, loving and eager to learn.
Many of my students do not have access to technology at home so when they come to the technology lab they are excited and eager to get to work.
My Project
My students need a color printer and color ink in our technology lab. My kindergarten to second grade kiddos have made such amazing progress not only in technology but in all their classes. They have all been working hard creating books, working on research projects and want to add color pictures and graphics to their work.
It breaks my teacher heart when I have to tell an excited and proud child that they image they found and inserted into their project can not be printed out in color.
We all remember the movie The Wizard of Oz when Dorothy first arrives in Munchkin Land and everything is bright and colorful. Well I want my students to have that same magical moment when they print out their project and it is in the same bright colors that they saw on the screen.
I know that my students will be so excited when they can print their projects in color.
