Every Student Can Learn...Just Not in the Same Way
Help me give my students a high-quality document camera so they can video themselves teaching and demonstrating math lessons, conducting science experiments, and creating art. Students learn best by becoming part of the teaching process!
This year I have a special group of amazing students! They love learning, and they have already come so far in six short weeks! These students are wonderful kids. However, they face many challenges inside and outside of school due to their emotional needs not being met and their personal stories of difficult home lives.
I may not be able to control their home lives; however, I can certainly control their positive, meaningful experiences during the school day.
Because of the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning. I also try to have meaningful, one-on-one conversations with every student every day. I want to send them home with the knowledge that they matter to me!
My Project
The use of a document camera is a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. In my self-paced math classroom, students do a mini-lesson with me, then watch an instructional video (made by a fellow teacher) on Google Classroom on a Chromebook. The instructional videos allow them to hear and see the skill taught in a different way. It is an easy place for them to rewind, re-watch, and take notes. By having a new high-quality document camera in our classroom, I will be able to create my own instructional videos for my students. The students will also be able to create their own videos! Many students learn best from their peers. How amazing would it be to have students teaching students!?!

Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether their materials are going to work. Plus, in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their learning as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology!
