Help me give my students a digital camera with memory cards and a case, so they can see themselves grow as dancers, build confidence through reflection, and share their performances with families and our school community.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I love that my students show up ready to move, express, and grow; often bringing their own cultural styles, energy, and creativity into our dance space. Many of them are learning to take risks and find their voice through movement. For some, dance is their outlet, their joy, and their way to feel seen.
A digital camera will give them the opportunity to literally see themselves in action, to recognize how far they’ve come and where they can go.
Reviewing recorded rehearsals will help them analyze posture, rhythm, coordination, and teamwork. Watching their own performances builds not only technique but also confidence.
We’ll also use the camera to document our showcases and community events, which is especially meaningful for families who can’t always attend in person. This way, students can share their progress with loved ones, and we can preserve memories that show the value of the arts in education.
This single tool, a camera, will amplify student voice, encourage reflection, and turn our class into a living portfolio of growth, discipline, and celebration.
