My Students

I teach at an amazing school that works to provide the best education to our students. We are a Title I institution where all students receive free lunch. We have a beautifully diverse group of students representing several races, cultures, and languages. Our families and students work to develop a positive relationship with school, learning, and their future education!

My class is a family that puts discovery and kindness as the top priorities.

They come in with a smile and a yearning to learn something new each day. They find agency and a passion for reading, problem solving, and friendships.

My Project

Every classroom has students reading on a huge range of levels. Very few students come into a classroom reading "on grade level." Instead, students are learning to read at difference paces. This project will provide books to beginning readers still decoding words up to readers who are building fluency and comprehension. It will also provide our room with engaging read alouds to provide comprehension lessons to all students.

Students need books at their instructional level that they are excited to read.

This project will focus on providing high quality, engaging books for all readers in my classroom. Students will have a selection of books from which to choose and therefore they will take control of their reading growth. The book bins will help store the books in our classroom library. This allows students to have constant access to the books in sturdy, lasting bins. This library builds a more authentic and student led reading environment.
