Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It's a hard world out there, but books help us feel better about it! Children are fantastic observers and are very aware of what is typical and "normal." Reading books about other kids who are experiencing hard times or non-traditional circumstances helps kids gain perspective and become more comfortable and confident in their own world.

I am creating Lending Book Bags with topics such as death, divorce, new baby, non-traditional families, adoption, immigration, and special needs for children to borrow to read together at home.

As I get to know my students and their families, the diversity of their life experiences is astonishing. When I recognize that one of my students is processing a situation, I will offer the Lending Book Bag for them to borrow so they can read the books together at home.
