This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students I have the pleasure of teaching are a creative, energetic group. They cannot wait to know what we are studying each morning and are always happy to try new concepts. Our classroom features a diverse group of students from all ethnicities and backgrounds. These students have big goals and high expectations for themselves. They are working hard to excel in school and achieve their dreams. The students show everyday that they are dedicated to a life-long journey of learning.

My Project

The Leveled Reader Library will be used to have keep students reading books as they increase skills. As students gain skills, they will be able to continue to utilize the library.

When you put a book in a child’s hand, you have placed the world in their hands.

The more books you place, the larger their world becomes.

First graders enter in September as emerging readers and are just beginning to decode text for meaning. As they progress through the school year their fluency and reading needs change. This library addresses their changing needs and gives them books to read throughout the school year.
