Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project was suggested by the students in my Journalism Class. These middle schoolers produce daily announcements for our entire school. That's a K-8 center in South Florida. Over 3/4 of our children come from low-income households, and speak a language other than English at home. The kids also take photos and videos for social media and for the school website. We then edit the students' work on a MacBook. Now, the issue is, that while some students have cell phones that they can use to take pictures or to film - not all students own cell phones!
And we don't want those students to miss out - so we need some kind of device that I can lend out to kids in each period that they can use to take photos/videos: something easy to carry, to use, and that works well with the MacBook that we use for editing.
Oh, and something that's relatively cheap! Now, does that sound like an iPad to you? We have selected the cheapest iPad from the Donorschoose catalogs, in the hope that you might help all our wonderful middle schoolers get the most out of Journalism Class!
