Help me give my students a functional opportunity to practice their communication, math, listening comprehension, and social interaction skills by running an Every Cup Counts Coffee Cart.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am an academic life skills (ALS) teacher at a Title I school in Howard County, Maryland. My students span grade levels, however, the majority of them are in the intermediate grades. I would like to start a coffee cart called "Every Cup Counts" to allow them to practice their skills in a functional way.
My Project
The students in my academic life skills (ALS) classroom need functional opportunities to practice their math, reading, communication, listening comprehension, and social interaction skills. I would like to start a coffee cart for them to run to practice these skills.
My students will practice 'wh' questions, math, communication, social interaction skills, and reading by going around to teachers and staff they are familiar with and take their order using an adaptive menu.
There will be velcro choices with the teachers faces, the type of coffee or tea they want, cream, and sugar. A supervising adult will use a Keurig machine to make the coffee and the students will deliver it with their options.
Not only will my students love this project and learn from it but this will be sure to boost moral and energy among staff as they enjoy their beverage!
