Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students with special needs love to learn and try their best in all subjects including Social Studies and integration in sports and play.

They are competitive and grasp every opportunity to win!

They are included with their peers from the general education setting for part of the school day. With the right resources, they will learn to appreciate others who are different. At present, we need legos and books to encourage understanding diversity. Their disabilities of autism, Downs Syndrome, intellectual disabilities, and speech impairments do not deter them. They try to succeed! Their low-income parents are industrious, caring and decent people who want to make a positive difference by allowing their children every opportunity to grow and learn in academics, especially in social relationships.

My Project

My students with special needs love playing with Legos and reading books. These materials will be used to familiarize my students about the diversity of the world in which we live. They will see the differences in people’s cultures from the books of people around the world and playing with legos of different races of people will enhance their knowledge of diversity. They will learn to love others who are not like them. Integration for sports and playtime with their peers in the general education setting will make them more inclusive in their social outlook on life.
