My Students

"Creativity is contagious, pass it on!" -Albert Einstein

I have 18 students-10 girls and 8 boys that all love to explore, imagine and create with anything they can get their hands on!

With the rigor of academics and many of our families working to provide for their family, I feel that I need to provide my students with a creative way to show what they know and to just let them create without the stress of being "right" or not. My students are an exciting group of kids bursting with energy, excitement, and knowledge! Our school is the center of our small community, one that loves our students and only wants the best for them.

My Project

Art has become second to Math and Language Arts and is often overlooked. I feel that these art supplies will benefit my students and allow them to express their thoughts, feelings, and engage in conversation about what they are creating. Art is more than just creating a product. It is the process the students will experience that is priceless. I plan to have the children use the art supplies to demonstrate their viewpoint or understanding of a concept-math, language arts, etc. by creating a collage, painting, experimenting with different materials including, watercolors, tempera paints, dot art painters, construction paper, glue, crayons, and textured paper squares. My students just began learning about 3D shapes and will have a blast creating objects from the 3-D collage box! "It will take them beyond the paper and allow them to try without the risk of failure."

This project will help connect home and school in a visual manner.

Having the opportunity to explore with materials at school will excite my students to create their monthly family projects at home. We also have family events throughout the year where the students can showcase what they are working on in the classroom. We also visit the local nursing home and the children can share their projects with them.
