Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach a vibrant, curious, and compassionate group of kindergarteners who come from a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. My classroom is a place where students begin to explore who they are and how they relate to the world around them. At this young age, it’s critical they see themselves—and others—reflected in the materials we use every day.

In our classroom, we believe that every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and celebrated.

This project will bring in a collection of diverse, inclusive books and multicultural dolls that reflect the rich variety of races, cultures, and identities in our world.

These items will help us:

Explore racial and cultural diversity through stories and discussions

Promote empathy, inclusion, and respect for all people

Foster pride in students' identities while teaching them to celebrate others

Books will feature characters and authors of different races, ethnicities, family structures, and abilities. Dolls will represent children from a range of ethnic backgrounds and include inclusive features such as different skin tones, hair textures, and traditional clothing.

These materials will support meaningful conversations about fairness, kindness, and identity from an early age. They’ll also help every student feel seen and appreciated, laying the foundation for an inclusive and socially aware learning community.
