Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Did you know that a state standard for first-grade students is that they will be able to recognize the ways in which we are all part of the same community, sharing principles, goals, and traditions despite our varied ancestry? As a first-grade teacher, it is my job to teach my students about the many different types of diversity in our school and community.
Diverse books in my classroom library will help encourage the celebration of diversity in all its unique and wonderful forms.
My hope is that my students will come away with a growing understanding that people everywhere have differing values and abilities, and this only makes the world a more colorful, exciting, diverse, and amazing place.
