My students need Botley the Coding Robot and Action Challenge Accessory Pack as well as the Coding Robot Activity Set to help them learn the basics of coding.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have the honor of teaching the most intelligent, enthusiastic, and knowledge-thirsty students in the world! We are a Title I primary school, but that does not stop my students from working hard. I am a STEM teacher, so my students are taught to be problem solvers. They enter my classroom each day excited and ready to learn new concepts.
My classroom is a melting pot of cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, and ability levels; but all of those differences are left at the door.
When my students enter my classroom, we are a family, and we find ways to overcome the differences and help each other succeed. They are a very active and energetic bunch who love to participate in fun, engaging, and hands-on activities.
My Project
I am always looking for new and innovative activities that my students can do in my STEAM classroom. Coding is a very popular activity because everyone loves to see the results of what they have programmed and they love working with robots. However, many of the coding robots in the market today are a little difficult for younger learners to understand how to use.
The Botley Robot will allow my kindergarten students to learn how to code in a fun and easy way!
When I saw this cute robot, I knew I had to have some for my STEAM lab! Programming this robot is very easy because the students will have a remote with arrows to correspond to the movements that the students want Botley to do. The activity kit includes an obstacle course that the students can set up for Botley to go through. This kit will serve as an introduction to coding in my class. Once they learn the basics, they will be ready to learn more difficult coding skills. All of these concepts will prepare them for the future. Thank you for helping me prepare my students for jobs that have yet to be created! I appreciate your support!
