My Students

I work in a small, rural school that is a collection of students from many small, but different towns. My dream is to make each student fall in love with reading. The first step to becoming a life-long reader is finding the book that starts the domino effect.

It is my goal to change the way students think by changing the way they think about learning.

With your help, we can change not only the lives of the students in my room, but the lives of the individuals in the community. I believe that we need to start with our students in the classroom in order to spread positivity and cultural change and I hope we can work together to accomplish this.

My Project

We have been so blessed throughout this school year to witness our already large classroom library, grow! At first, we stacked books on top of bookshelves. Then books started to get shelved in front of other books. The last straw was when the floor seemed like the only option to store our precious books!

We need bookshelves so that the classroom library can stay shoppable.

When books are hazardously strewn throughout the classroom, it's almost impossible to connect a book with a student in the limited time we have together because we're spending the entire time hunting. Every minute counts when you've convinced a reluctant reader to check out this "amazing book that would be perfect for them."
