My class this year is off to an amazing start! My students are excited about learning and LOVE to explore and discuss the world around them. They have an expressed interest in science and cheer when I tell them we will be doing a hands-on activity or experiment!
My inclusion classroom consists of 25 little people with unique personalities who contribute to our classroom with their individual strengths and support each other in their weaknesses!
They come from a variety of backgrounds and have a variety of skill levels. My hope is that each day they will find a common enthusiasm for learning and desire to work hard at being respectful, responsible and on-task. This "on target" behavior breeds success and it's amazing what they can do when they realize that they can now do things just like the big kids!
My Project
I have had an overwhelmingly positive response to my take-home science kits, but there is one problem - there just aren't enough to spread out the fun! With only two kits to circulate among 25 students and allowing each kid a few days to have the kits, we definitely have a need for more!
The educational conversations I hear at school about the kits and the opportunity for parents and kids to spend time having fun together is a special gift!
These materials will provide my students additional practice with concepts like force and motion and architecture that we explore at school, but don't always have additional time to extend learning.
