Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are loving our new school library as they come back for face-to-face instruction. Books line the walls and fill shelves with fiction series, graphic novels, and engaging nonfiction.
Our students may love math and science, but they get hooked on great books.
Reading is such a fundamental part of education that we work to incorporate it into every subject, multiple times a day.
Our diverse student body is far from many community resources. We're excited to be a positive, welcoming part of the neighborhood.
My Project
Seeing yourself in a book is one of the most powerful feelings we can have. A family that looks familiar, a setting just like your home, and a kid who looks or feels like you.
Bring my young students a wide assortment of the best of today's books focused on identity.
Our school community is one of the most diverse in our city, with many different races and family structures and immigration journeys. We've successfully grown our library for older kids and now we'd like to make sure our primary grades have the same access to the books they need.
